God Rewards Righteousness
We all desire to be blessed by God and have our prayers answered. 1 John 4:21 – 24 outlines the precondition for such a blessing: “But dearly loved friends, if our consciences are clear, we can come to the Lord with perfect assurance and trust and get whatever we ask for because we are obeying Him and doing the things that please Him. And this is what God says we must do: Believe on the name of His son Jesus Christ, and love one another. Those who do what God says – they are living with God and He with them. We know this is true because the Holy Spirit
He has given us tells us so.”
We can all stray from the path of righteousness and find disquiet in our spirits. Jeremiah 6:16 addresses this issue: “Yet the Lord pleads with you still: Ask where the good road is, the godly paths you used to walk in, in the days of long ago. Travel there, and you
will find rest for your souls.”
Righteousness is an act of the will and permeates our behavior and our relationships. As Paul says in Philippians 4:4 – 7, “Always be full of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice! Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do. Remember that the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you
trust in Christ Jesus.”
The peace of the Lord Jesus is given to those who obey and trust in Him.
