Thought for the Week

Are you trying to do something about something that you can’t do anything about?  One thing is required: trust.

Lighthouse

"I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12

Welcome to Lighthouse

Children With Direction

The vision of Lighthouse Children’s Church is to equip, empower and release young people to know and understand their God given authority, and to walk in the knowledge and Power of the Holy Spirit.

Imagine a place …..   where children are safe
  •           where children love and highly value the Word of God
  •            where children see them selves as God sees them
  •            where children worship out of a personal relationship with God
  •            where signs, wonders and miracles happen
  •            where children have a love and appreciation for the house of God
  •            where children respect and encourage one another in their journey
  •            where children recognise and use their gifts to minister to others
  •            where children love to come because it’s a fun place to be

We seek to create an environment where all children receive the opportunity to express their love for God in creative ways. By teaching them that they can walk in boldness, passion and the power of God and participate in ministry to one another in such a way that signs and wonders can be released through them. That they come to know God intimately for themselves.

We are very excited about what God is doing in the children's lives and we want to take this opportunity to encourage parents to support their children fully with their participation in all the activities of Lighthouse.

Creche is now operating out of the kitchen area of the church. If your child is under 3 years of age, you will be able to go into the kitchen during the morning service where there is a loud speaker and a view of the front of the church so parents are able to hear and see whats going on in the service at all times. Children must not be left unattended while in the kitchen area. Parents are responsible for the care of their own children at all times within this area.

The change has come about because we found that having the preschool age children in with the toddlers was not successful. The old Creche room has now become Preschool and will cater for children between the ages of 3 - 5 years.

  • Our Curriculum for 2010

We are all very excited and looking forward to 2010! Not only do we have a new and exciting curriculum, but we are going to have our own, Praise & Worship, and Communion, and  Offering..….. Yes, you heard right. You will not be seeing us in church as often. We will all be in church on the first Sunday of the month as usual, until further notice. We have a few games and activities set up for the children to occupy themselves for half an hour until we begin our program around 9.45am with Praise and Worship.

Pre-school children will be doing a series of lessons on God’s character.  This program will help them to gain an understanding of God through His character, and begin to know Him in a personal way. As we all know a well balanced understanding of who God is gives kids a strong foundation for life.

Primary school chiildren started the year off with a new program for 2010 but at different levels. Without going into too much detail here, you could take a look at the website where we have purchased the programs from, www.logosdor.com once you’ve logged in select Oasis, this will give you a general idea. Basically Oasis is a Bible discovery curriculum designed to appeal to primary grade children. Each Oasis unit utilises audio and visual media along with an easy to follow structured educational approach to leaning over 10/12 weeks. Any questions please don’t hesitate to call me and talk further.

The guidelines by which Lighthouse functions will consist of a list of I CAN'S - Not I cant's - as the Bible tells us "I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4 : 13.

  • I CAN use good manners all the time. Please, Thank You, Excuse me.
  • I CAN sit still to listen while someone is speaking.
  • I CAN keep my hands and feet to myself.
  • I CAN respect things that belong to someone else.
  • I CAN Sing, Clap & Dance during Praise & Worship.
  • I CAN enjoy the presence of God.
  • I CAN invite my friends to come and join us.

A thought to remember:

A child with an experience of God, needs no convincing on the existence of God
