Thought for the Week

Are you trying to do something about something that you can’t do anything about?  One thing is required: trust.

Scared of Living???

I heard a comment recently that had a distinct ring of truth about it ... “Life is about learning from your mistakes and death is about wishing you’d made a lot more of them”.

In Joshua 14 (and Numbers 14:24 & 32:12) we are instructed to “follow the Lord wholeheartedly” and Ephesians 4:1 encourages us to “live a life worthy of the calling you have received”. Ephesians 4:2 goes on to expand “be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love” v3 “make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace;” v4 “There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called” v5 “one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all”.

V12 tells us that we are given the gifts in order “to prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up;” v13 “until all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God” v15 ... “built up in love, as each part does its work”.

How many of us are sitting on our hands, too scared to move in case we make a mistake? Getting it ‘wrong’ means we are at least trying and as long as we’re trying our very best, wholeheartedly, then that is all God asks of us.
